Presented by Warwick-based Zap Events, the evening consisted of L.K. Bennett’s latest elegant and wearable designs, innovative costume jewellery from Ikandie, inspiring eclectic fashion from Lilac Rose (Regent St) and the pick of the season’s must-have brands from nv Her (Royal Priors). Models hair and make-up was done by Saks Hair and Beauty, Clinique and Headmasters Salon.

The venue was the Leamington Bar and Grill, the elegant rooms of which used to be the ballroom of the old Regent Hotel, and cocktails and canapes were provided, courtesy of manager Craig Henry.

Chelsea gold-medal winner, Sarah Horne, dressed the venue for the evening to photograph for her forthcoming book on floral design. The book will be available next summer but a calendar of dramatic pictures will be available by Christmas.

Emma Fawcett, Regional Fundraising Manager said “The wonderful support we have received from our sponsors and guests tonight has raised nearly £2000, which will make a real difference to the lives of local disabled children by providing the vital equipment they need.”

Sanu Miah and his staff hosted this event for the second time to raise money for Children Today. The evening included a 5* a la carte meal followed by a raffle. This wonderful evening raised over £1200 for the charity.

Liz Oakes, Regional Fundraising Manager, said “ without the help and support from people such as Sanu, we at the trust could not help these children locally, so, on behalf of the many parents and children needing our help, I cannot thank you enough for your continued support”

There were auctions and raffles and of course the odd bet on the races which were shown on the big screens.

This magnificent event raised £9500 so “ Hats off to all who supported and hope to see you next year.”

All the funds raised were donated to Children Today which is a charitable trust which gives grants to buy individual children with sickness and disability individual items of life enhancing equipment enabling them to fulfil their potential.

Suzanne Virdee (BBC Midlands Today) joined us at LK Bennett in Leamington Spa to help promote the event. The venue is the newly re-launched Leamington Bar and Grill, the elegant rooms of which used to be the ballroom of the old Regent Hotel, the largest in Europe when it was built!

Following a second Gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show for wedding design work and a successful presentation to the American Institute of Floral Designers in Chicago, Sarah Horne will be dressing the venue for the evening as the first presentation for her forthcoming book on floral design.

The evening will consist of a welcome drink and canapés in the bar and the show itself, followed by some exciting raffle prizes. Sarah Horne’s unique flowers will be auctioned and there will be some rather sought-after souvenirs given to all guests on the night.

Abdullah Malik, centre enjoys his new tricycle with from left, Linda Halliwell (DeVere Whites Hotel), Zubair Malik (father), Gary Redford (JG Redfords), Yasmin Malik (mother), Claire Lever (BWFC), Liz Oakes (Children Today), Pete Longworth (JG Redford) and Jamie Slack (JG Redford) pitchside at the Reebok stadium.

This specially adapted tricycle will enable Abdullah to join his friends and family in play, promoting his self esteem and interaction. It will also promote muscle strengthening and encourage a more healthy lifestyle.

A series of fundraising events have recently been held in the Bolton area. J.G.Redfords with the help of Clive McCoy of Buildbase hosted a golf day at Deane Golf Club which raised in excess of £2000.

Gary Redford said “ It is a pleasure to support Children Today and to see exactly how the money is spent. Malik and his family are challenged every day of their lives so to be able to raise money to enable them to lead a more independent and fulfilling life style is very rewarding. I wish to thank the many golfers and businesses who helped make this event the success that it was”

Linda Halliwell from DeVere Whites Hotel who hosted this presentation added “ we have supported Children Today now for several years and nothing is more encouraging than to see the children receive their equipment.

Chris successfully completed the Borneo Challenge last year and hopes, once again, to challenge himself in South Africa next year.

The presentation should last about 30 minutes and there will be lots of time for Chris to answer any questions you may have.

This free music/dance event was staged on Sunday 17th August to raise funds for Children Today and was fully supported by the City of York Council as part of York’s “Children’s Summer Festival”.
